Louis Dreyfus liquidates remaining Russian subsidiaries

Louis Dreyfus Company, one of the world’s largest agricultural commodity traders, is proceeding with the liquidation of its remaining legal entities in Russia, according to filings on federal corporate registries.

The closures will affect RusElCo LLC (Russian Elevator Company) and Louis Dreyfus Vostok Company LLC. RusElCo, established in 2004 and formerly owned by UK-based RusElCo LLP, operates 12 grain elevators in the Voronezh, Volgograd and Rostov regions, as well as in the Stavropol Territory, with a combined storage capacity of 2 million tonnes.

Louis Dreyfus exited the Russian market in July 2023. Since June 2024, RusElCo’s elevators have stopped accepting grain from local agricultural producers, a move that has disrupted regional supply chains.

Industry analysts note that while the company’s Russian storage assets remain of interest, the current grain market conditions make it unlikely that a buyer of comparable scale will emerge.
