Bayer expands satellite data access in deal with Planet Labs

Planet Labs has strengthened its partnership with Bayer through a multi-year enterprise license agreement, significantly expanding the agricultural giant’s access to high-frequency satellite imagery and analytics. The move is expected to enhance Bayer’s ability to monitor global agricultural operations, optimize logistics, and improve crop performance through data-driven decision-making.
The agreement grants Bayer greater access to Planet’s suite of satellite products, including PlanetScope, Tasking, Fusion, Basemaps, and Planetary Variables. By integrating these tools, Bayer aims to streamline its agronomic processes, standardize phenotypic assessments, and drive efficiency in field management. This expanded access to remote sensing data supports Bayer’s broader strategy of using digital innovation to advance regenerative agriculture and strengthen supply chain resilience.
Planet’s high-resolution imagery enables Bayer to conduct continuous field monitoring, providing real-time insights that facilitate more effective trial oversight and timely interventions. This capability is expected to help Bayer reduce waste, improve efficiency, and develop innovative solutions for sustainable farming.
The enhanced collaboration builds on Bayer and Planet’s existing partnership, emphasizing the role of geospatial intelligence in transforming agricultural practices. As the agriculture industry increasingly turns to digital solutions to address environmental and operational challenges, this agreement positions both companies at the forefront of innovation in precision farming.
Planet, a leader in global satellite imagery and geospatial solutions, operates the world’s largest Earth observation fleet. Its data services support over 1,000 customers across industries including agriculture, forestry, intelligence, and finance.
By deepening its engagement with Planet, Bayer reinforces its commitment to leveraging technology to advance sustainable farming practices and improve agricultural productivity worldwide.
