EcoPhage, a leader in bacteriophage-based agricultural solutions, has entered a strategic partnership with Maian to introduce GoldenEco, its innovative bactericide, to Brazil’s agricultural market. This collaboration marks a significant step in combating bacterial diseases in tomatoes and peppers while promoting sustainable farming practices.

GoldenEco, developed through EcoPhage’s proprietary platform co-created with the Weizmann Institute of Science, is a cutting-edge solution designed to reduce reliance on copper and antibiotics in agriculture. By utilizing bacteriophages—natural viruses that specifically target harmful bacteria—the product provides a residue-free, environmentally friendly alternative to traditional chemical treatments. GoldenEco not only improves disease control but also enhances crop quality and yields.

Maian Ltda., headquartered in Brazil, specializes in importing, distributing, and developing sustainable raw materials for various industries, including agriculture. The company offers an extensive portfolio of 100% natural and sustainable solutions. Brazil, the world’s sixth-largest tomato producer, cultivates nearly 20 million metric tons annually over 60,000 hectares of tomatoes and peppers. This makes the country an ideal market for GoldenEco’s innovative technology.

EcoPhage CEO Guy Elitzur emphasized the pressing need to address rising resistance to conventional treatments like copper and antibiotics, coupled with increasing regulatory pressures, highlighting GoldenEco as a sustainable and high-performing solution. Maian CEO Angel Dachs echoed this sentiment, noting that the addition of GoldenEco to Maian’s vegetable-focused portfolio enhances its innovative edge and strengthens its position in the competitive agricultural market.

EcoPhage aims to address challenges in global agriculture by offering bacteriophage-based solutions that target bacterial diseases, providing an alternative to conventional pesticides. These products are designed to control bacterial infections with minimal environmental impact, leveraging advanced mapping and characterization techniques.

The partnership between EcoPhage and Maian reflects a broader industry shift toward sustainable farming practices. By introducing GoldenEco to the Brazilian market, the companies are responding to growing demand for alternative disease management solutions in agriculture.
