AGROFERT secures expansion in Croatia with new acquisition

The Croatian arm of the AGROFERT group, Agronom d.o.o., has announced plans to expand its agricultural commodities, fertilizers, seeds, and plant protection products portfolio following regulatory approval. The local Agency for the Protection of Competition (AZTN) has given the green light for Agronom to acquire direct control over Ruris Agro, marking a significant step in the company’s strategy to diversify and enhance its operational synergies across its business locations.
This acquisition is expected to strengthen Agronom’s position in the market and provide new opportunities for growth and development within the region. The move is seen as a strategic enhancement to the company’s already substantial presence in the agricultural sectors of the Czech and Slovak Republics, where AGROFERT stands as a prominent player.
AGROFERT, the largest conglomerate in the Czech and Slovak agricultural and food industries and a major player in the European chemical and nitrogen fertilizer markets, continues to show robust expansion. The group’s employment figures are equally impressive, with nearly 31,000 individuals under its employ, making it the largest private employer in the Czech Republic with 21,000 employees.
