BG Titan expands in Uganda with zero-waste farming and renewable energy initiative

      Share

BG Titan Group has officially launched its Titan E-Farms initiative in Uganda, marking the beginning of a large-scale effort to transform agricultural practices across East Africa. This ambitious project, valued at over $650 million, seeks to establish a sustainable agricultural model that balances economic development with environmental sustainability.

Titan E-Farms introduces a combination of advanced technologies that decarbonize agricultural processes and eliminate waste. The farm’s comprehensive waste-to-power system converts organic matter into energy, thereby minimizing emissions and creating a fully sustainable closed-loop system. This model aims to generate between 50 to 100 MW of renewable energy from waste, solar, and hydrogen technologies, contributing to both the farm’s operations and the surrounding communities’ energy needs.

Beyond environmental benefits, the project is set to be a major source of employment in Uganda. With over 5,000 direct jobs to be created in sectors like farming, technology, and energy production, it is also expected to stimulate thousands more jobs through indirect opportunities in logistics and related industries. This job creation is a key driver of the initiative’s goal to empower local communities and foster long-term economic growth.

Central to the project is the proprietary technology, Titan Air, which captures CO2 and methane and converts them into algae. The algae, produced through accelerated growth, serves as a valuable byproduct that can be used as fertilizer to enhance soil quality and support aquaculture, further boosting local food production and addressing food security challenges.

Additionally, Titan E-Farms integrates sustainable agri-solar practices, enabling crop cultivation alongside solar energy production. High-value crops such as coffee and mangoes will be grown, leveraging Uganda’s favorable climate. This efficient use of resources will support both agriculture and renewable energy production, ensuring the long-term viability of the project.

Following its Uganda launch, BG Titan plans to expand the Titan E-Farms model to neighboring countries like Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda, replicating its zero-waste, renewable energy-driven farming concept across the region. This expansion is expected to foster regional collaboration and promote sustainable development in East Africa.

BG Titan Group’s initiative highlights a new direction for the agricultural industry, where environmental and economic goals align to create a sustainable future for communities and industries alike.
