E.ON Polska to open its first biogas facility in Poland

E.ON Polska, a division of the German Energy company E.ON, announced on Wednesday that in late 2024 it will open its first biogas plant in Poland. It said that the facility, which will be located near the town of Pultusk in the country’s northeast, will have a capacity of 1MWe in high-efficiency cogeneration.
E.ON Polska indicated that it wants to be an active participant in the energy transition and to help its customers to reduce their carbon footprint. It pointed out that Poland is currently a long way from realizing the full benefits of renewable energy, and said that it sees a good deal of potential for developing biogas sources there.
The division also emphasized that it intends to run the biogas plant in accordance with the principles of the circular economy. It said the new plant will use agricultural biomass substrates and waste – and will distribute the microelement-rich post-digestate material to local farmers for use as fertilizer.
