Lifosa restarts the production of phosphorus fertilizers

The Lifosa plant (Lithuania) has resumed the production of phosphorus fertilizers. It has also restarted the production of sulfuric acid, which serves to process apatite concentrate to extract phosphorus compounds from it.

During August, Lifosa will operate at 70% of its capacity, and 80% of its workforce will be returned from forced downtime.

In March, European Union authorities imposed sanctions against Andrey Melnichenko, the owner of EuroChem, which owns Lifosa. After that, the accounts of Lifosa were blocked and the plant was forced to stop.

Later, the Ministry of Finance of Lithuania allowed Lifosa to resume work under supervision. Then there was information about the restart of Lifosa in June and the withdrawal of 240 employees from forced downtime.

Lifosa produces phosphoric acid, diammonium phosphate and monoammonium phosphate.
